Should you buy a new home?

Here are some major signs that it’s time for a new home…

“Life is a journey, not a destination.”

As we continue along our life’s journey, we learn, grow, and change. Sometimes change is so necessary that it feels there is no choice, and sometimes a feeling or sign tells us clearly that we’re ready for change. Life often sends signs that it is time for a new home, whether we know it or not. When it comes to owning a home, it’s a never ending journey that should be celebrated and enjoyed.

The cost of repairs your current place are adding up

Older homes are full of character and charm, but maintaining and updating them can be expensive. If the costs for maintenance, repairs, or upgrades outweigh the expense of moving to a new home, it might be a good idea to consider a new and more cost-effective home.

2. Your family is growing or your nest is empty

One of the top reasons for a family to move to a new home is the arrival of a new family member, which means the need for more space. Having a child is also an opportunity to consider new neighborhoods with the best school districts, safest streets, and access to family amenities. However, once the kids are all grown up and moved out, a big home can feel overwhelming and can be a lot to keep up with. Many empty nesters consider downsizing to a smaller home for ease, and to save time and money on maintenance.

3. You’re seeking financial independence

If you’re becoming successful in your career but you’re still renting, moving into a home is an incredibly validating reward for all that hard work. It’s also a smart investment (especially in San Antonio), will give you a sense of pride, and allows you more control in planning your finances.

4. Your current neighborhood has changed (and you don’t like it)

Neighborhoods are constantly evolving, and that’s just a way of life. If your neighborhood no longer fits your lifestyle or family value, it might be time to find a better spot. More importantly, do you feel safe coming home at night or walking the neighborhood alone? If the answer is no, it’s definitely time to make a move.

5. Your current commute is too long

If you’re spending too much time commuting to and from work that it is affecting your mental and physical wellbeing, moving closer to work would be a smart choice. Research shows that a longer commute has a negative effect on health and happiness.

6. A relationship status has changed

A relationship status is another major cause for moving to a new home. Whether your relationship is moving to the next step or the opposite, moving to a new place can be an exciting new start.

7. You have a dream

Do you have a passion project that you can’t stop thinking about? You might need to create the perfect space for it, like a dedicated office space or a workspace to perfect your craft. Whatever your dream is, sometimes a new home with the right type of space is all you need to turn that dream into a reality.
